Ordinary Questions

In my life experience ordinary questions, whether asked casually or as malicious probes, can have painful answers:

Where are you from?

Are you married?

Do you have children?

Answers of absolute truth are so complex that I cannot spell them all out in one disgorge. I store those painful complications behind closed doors and try to keep the windows covered. Why must they keep rattling the doorknobs, prying at the windows, peeking in?

I am old now, please stop asking. I want only peace, quiet and happiness now.
