Twenty years ago I was touched to see what I thought of as passersby's love of nature; but now, in the year of our Lord 2026, I see that handfuls of birch tree curls are for sale on Etsy. It seems crass.

Still, I suppose now that it is illegal to take a stone, leaf, or bucket of soil from nature, one must buy it if one is to have any of it. Sad, really sad.
