Degenerate?

Why do so many people need glasses in the 21st century? "Today, 75 percent of adults need some form of vision correction..."*

Why have our brain shrunk by almost the volume of a tennis ball? Larger brain size is believed to be correlated with higher intelligence so it is startling to learn that "Neanderthal skulls were on average slightly larger and differently shaped (conical) and than modern human skulls..."**
