I Was Buoyant

To celebrate turning fifty I got PADI certified to scuba dive. PADI stands for Professional Association of Diving Instructors so this was a fairly high level to attain. I never intended to teach it, I just wanted that skill level for personal competency, for safety. I loved moving freely through water, feeling it slide off of me like a caress as I swam wherever I chose, like a fish at play moves up, down, forward, or back in the water. I had good buoyancy control, which is essential to keep one where one wants to be in the water column, so as to avoid damaging the aquatic life living on the bottom, or being bitten by it. Of course I can no longer safely scuba, that was twenty years ago, a

Breathing The Smoke Of Fear

I am unbearably anxious to finish my late father's loss of leg due to nursing home neglect lawsuit so that I can sell my house and move to senior housing in the state where I wish to be. Each breath feels like the smoke of fear, and it is hard to get it all out of my lungs when I exhale. Suffocating. Twice this week my heart skittered and kept on skittering, alternating between irregular beats so slow that I could not feel them in my cold, cold body, and episodes of fast, pounding, irregular beating that hurt my chest. Frightening. I do not want to pay tens of thousands of dollars to lay for days in the bed of an intensive care unit like the first time I suffered a heart attack twenty-fiv

There is no stolen art in the royal collection. Much of it was added by members of British royal families purchased while abroad, sometimes as entire personal collections of Europeans and wealthy Brits, and number

I Like Sciencey Reads

When I read to relax and for pleasure, I enjoy science fiction, but please no dragons, zombies, or their ilk which belong in the realms of fantasy, horror, or wherever. Well-written science fiction does not even have to be particularly realistic to catch my interest, just possessing of characters who have some sort of appeal with sciencey concepts and gizmos. Who knows until tomorrow what creative fiction of the past will turn into true science in the future? It has happened before and it will happen again. Ripple Effect

This American President Donald J. Trump genuinely LIKES people. He cares about them deeply, and he is intelligent enough to be able to do something for the people he cares about, which is everyone. He has amazing compassion! Throw a stone in the water and it will have a ripple effect far and wide, throw compassion upon the humanity... Dive-bombed by Fledgling Blue Jay's Parent

At the height of summer when it was hot enough to cook on a rock, I was driving through a residential neighborhood along an asphalt road, when I braked to avoid a fledgling blue jay that had fallen or jumped too soon from its nest in the overarching trees and now huddled broiling on the hot, sticky asphalt. I quickly parked and tried to shoo the fledgling jay to the cool grass lawn just a few feet away but it was too cooked to do anything more than flutter its wings in fright. It was ungrateful for my attentions and called raucously to be saved from me. I scooped it up to place it under cool bushes in a nearby yard. In reward, its parent dive-bombed my unsuspecting pate with a painful cr

Persona Non Grata

Persona Non Grata disrupted my life for several years and caused me unnecessary unhappiness in different ways. When I met him in a city park I saw destruction in his crazy, intelligent, sad eyes and so I told him that I would not go out with him; but he followed me home. Then he gave me things that any woman would like until he had me twisted up into a relationship with his craziness. He gave me pretty flowers from his garden but told me it was only because he enjoyed giving flowers, it had nothing to do with me. He gave me beautiful, expensive earrings but told me it was only because that was all he could get as payment for computer coding that he had done. He made me feel sorry for him

The Crime Of Being Different

"David Vaughan Icke ( /aɪk/ ; born 29 April 1952) is an English writer and public speaker. A former footballer and sports broadcaster, Icke has been known since the 1990s as a professional conspiracy theorist, calling himself a "full time investigator into who and what is really controlling the world." Source: https://everipedia.org/wiki/lang_en/David_Icke/ David Icke is a different sort of a man, take a look at his presentations on YouTube, he explains his ideas far better than I can. I decided to post about him because I admire him and find some of his ideas agreeably provoking. His drifts from reality do not trouble me, often that is where the new truth is hiding. 10% White In The World

By some accounts there are currently about 760 million White people* in a world population of 7.5 billion, which makes Whites a minority of about ten percent. By other accounts, "(a)bout fifty one percent of the world population is Caucasian. It is said that by 2060 only ten percent of the world population will be Caucasian."** Whites are a serious minority in the world, so with about 200 million white people in Russia and about 200 million white people in the USA, it seems like a mistake for white people not to get along with each other there and elsewhere. ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... * Source: https://www.quora.com/How-many-white-people-are-there-in-the-world ** Source

Falling Asleep At The Wheel

Yesterday while I was driving back to Bloomington, Illinois from another of my late father's court hearings for loss of his leg due to nursing home neglect, I kept falling asleep at the wheel. For the first time in my life I had to pull over on a freeway exit and take a cat nap. I do not know how long I slept but no one stopped to trouble me with wanting to know if I was okay. When I was young and tried to close my eyes to rest in public it seemed that every man that passed by felt that it was his right and duty to stop and ask me if I was okay. The scruffier they looked, the harder it was to get rid of them. Not so yesterday, I slept enough on the roadside so that I could safely drive

Sea Change At The Cook County Circuit Courts, Chicago, Illinois

Today when I was in Chicago for another court hearing on my late father's loss of leg due to nursing home neglect, I noticed a sea change among many of the staff at the Cook County Circuit Courts in The Richard J. Daley Center. Before certain groups of them seemed to go out of their way to hinder and humiliate me, perhaps because of my pro se status, perhaps due to racial factors. Today some things had changed. For example, the BLOCK THIRTY SEVEN underground parking attendants are all black and in the past they have tended toward surly. Today one of them lifted my walker into my car for me of his own accord. This appears to be relatively easy for men to do as they have significantly gre

Word For The Day

This is crude, rude, but funny. A kakistocracy is government by the least suitable and least competent citizens, a form of government in which the worst people are in power. As in, "The shitheads are in charge, everything is kaka." I have often seen this kind of government in action, but I never knew that there is a specific word for it. ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... Interesting factoid: Kaka/Caca means poop in Arabic, Russian, Spanish, Romanian, Hungarian, Hebrew, Albanian… but in Nordic languages it means cookie, biscuit, small cake, or pastry. Make of that what you will. Source: http://www.acoolthingilearnedtoday.com/kaka-means-poop/ Caption: Kakistocracy by Annmarie T

Bonuses

Having not had books or toys when I was a child, in late middle age I finally realized that sorrowing over that neglect was counterproductive so I put an end to it. I comforted myself by collecting two kinds of inexpensive, miniature toys, porcelain dolls and toy vehicles. I kept them in two candy boxes that I acquired just before I stopped eating candy, which was another very good life decision. I knew that someday I would be ready to give my little collections of toys to someone else's child, since I have none of my own. Today was that someday. The man that mows my lawn had his young daughter working for him in my yard and I gave that overworked little girl a bonus. I gave her my col

Not As Much Fun As They Said

In my experience to date, getting old and gray is not as much fun as they said it would be. You know, they say it would be, "The Golden Years"? Well, it isn't. Which by the way is a trick I enjoy playing on young people. You should see the expressions on their faces when I pretend to pout and say, "Getting old is not as much fun as they said it would be." They think that what I am saying might be funny, they think it might be sadly true, and then they remember that no one ever seriously said that getting old would be fun, then they realize that they themselves had hoped for golden years, not gray. I enjoy seeing this confusion play across their young, beautiful faces. Oh dear, have I tu

My Sister’s Habit Of Betrayal

Before she shunned me my younger sister Carla intercepted and ruined at least three significant events in my life, that I know about. She told me that she and her fiancé Bob had not sent out wedding invitations, but that her wedding and reception would be at our paternal grandmother's apartment at such and such time. That seemed strange to me but I knew Carla was stressed and unhappy for reasons of her own so I did not question it and I arrived at the time Carla had told me. As I came in everyone else was coming out, it was completely over. Someone captured this photograph of my confusion and sadness. Carla and I were both briefly living in our parents' home during our early adulthood whe

I Have The Mumps And It Isn't Pretty.

The strange thing is that earlier this year I worried that I might contract some serious disease that has been eradicated or greatly reduced in western civilization, based on the fact that I must appear that the monthly hearings, of my late father's loss of leg due to nursing home neglect, at the Richard J. Daley Center in Chicago, Illinois, a huge building complex which provides legal services to a teeming mass of people from countries around the world, and especially serves immigrants from third world countries where medical standards are low or nonexistent. And I currently live in Bloomington/Normal, Illinois where for generations people have avoided vaccinations, claiming "religious" re
