No Knockout Drugs

Before I had the medical procedure, I was behind in my household tasks and I had a lot of undone paperwork, mostly scanning so that I could throw away the paper records as I try to keep a paperless house.  Then after the procedure I was sick for two weeks, and now I am overwhelmed.  Again.

The procedure that I had was a colonoscopy and it was my LAST ever colonoscopy because I am now TOO OLD—GREAT, no more colonoscopies!  I chose to have this last colonoscopy without anesthesia so that my fragile old body was not overwhelmed by the vile anesthetic chemicals that the medical profession subdues you with.  I subdued myself with self-control and without knockout drugs.  Some people never recover from anesthesia, losing cognitive functions right and left, and I do not want to be one of them.  How would I keep my household in order if I cannot think?  The doctor seemed impressed with my self-control (it did hurt quite a bit) and the nurses were discombobulated by me changing the procedure.  Frankly, I am a little bit proud of myself.  Afterward the doctor said that he had not thought that I would be able to do it without drugs, and the nurses had installed IVs for drugs which they did not administer.  I did accept a nasal cannula of oxygen.
