Superpower No. 1—The Ability To Chuck Small Objects Accurately

Until about age sixty-five when I tossed something into a wastebasket it effortlessly found its mark and flutter, plink, or plop, into the wastebasket it went. This was an easy skill for me, even from across a room. I enjoyed casually impressing people with my ability to chuck stuff with accuracy. I miss that superpower. Now I have to remember to train my eyes inside the wastebasket’s rim and to follow through with my entire arm so that at the point of releasing the tossed object my fingertips are pointing directly into the center of the wastebasket. My old brain wants a little nap midway in this millisecond procedure, which causes my arm to drift and my fingers to loosen too soon and the tossed object to fly astray.
