On Being Friends With Men—a woman wonders
Conventional wisdom has it that a man
is only hanging in there until that key biological urge can be met.
Is that so?
Is there nothing in a woman’s mind or aspect
to hold a man’s more lofty thoughts?
When a woman smiles or nicely turns a phrase,
does a man seek only clues to the softening of her reception?
Is that so?
Does he not see another being,
the other bright face to his side of the coin?
As women mingle in their world,
and it is still very much a world of men,
Do simple men, with simple thoughts
simply drift along in the pheromone wake?
I do not know, is that so?
Répondez s'il vous plait.
