American Staple Goods

There are two basic reasons why Americans (or any other country for that matter) should manufacture our own staple goods: (1) self-reliance equals national security with regard to hardware and materials, meaning that we can provide the basics for ourselves in the misfortune of war or natural disaster, and (2) if we design and manufacture our own clothing and household goods, then we create our own American culture instead of importing some other country's idea of how we should eat, dress, and furnish our homes.
