The World We Built Is Not Perfect But It Is Better Than Any In The Past
This is what I, as my avatar AdroitWaterBear, post online when others complain that me and my kind have "ruined" the world. It is the style now to blame Americans descended from Europeans for all that ails us. What tosh.
Europeans and their descendants have given Europe, America, and much of the world:
safe roofs over our heads
indoor plumping
potable water on tap
extended lifespans due to lifelong medical care
HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems—which are also lifesavers for the young and elderly
worldwide commercial infrastructure with employment for many
local policing for public security
international security by the military
transportation systems that people used to dream about
twelve or more years of free public education
a social safety net of living benefits for the young, disabled, and elderly
For almost everyone this is much better than a disease-riddled, short-lived, brutal fantasy of living in the wilds, right?
And as for forcing the World to speak English, English is the defacto global lingua franca. Deal with it. Also, a case could be made for the assertion that English is not the creation of Britain or America, but English is the evolved Latin of the ancient Romans who took it throughout the world. Perhaps it is the Italy's neo-latin that has become the language of the world. If you do not like it, offer an alternative.
