Last Time I Performed Tai Chi Chuan
When life turns another way one must let go of old habits to make room for the new. I knew I wanted to move west and try new ways of being. One of the old ways of being that I wanted to let go was my daily habit of performing Tai Chi Chuan, the proverbial iron fist in a velvet glove. It was too martial for my taste. Those slow sweeping arms gesture a shove and jab to the solar plexus (left in montage below), a punch and a smash to the anterior nasal spine (Center in montage below), and perhaps a nah-nah-nah gesture (right in montage below). As a woman this posturing was unrealistic, but I gained confidence and skill through this body movement training. As a gentle woman, my strategy on all things martial is not to be there when it happens.
Last Time I Performed Tai Chi Chuan was in 1999-montage by Annmarie Throckmorton.
